NUTRITION FOR AN ACTIVE BALANCED LIFESTYLE There is solid
scientific evidence that some food such as fruits and vegetables have cancer fighting agents as well as many other decease fighting elements. These are not the vitamin and mineral compounds we are so well aware of, but reach into a much tinier spectrum but no less powerful. They are food based photochemical such as polypenols and bioflavanoids. They have been shown to move mountains so to speak and we should all be doing our best to take advantage of their abilities and incorporate them, by means of the food they are found in, into our active lifestyle. Each of us needs to aim to fit 10 servings of these super foods into our daily active lifestyle in order to maintain vitality and optimal health. Remember, even though it is possible to get these foods in prepared versions, the nutritional value can be diminshed if they are overly cooked, or processed, so eat foods as close to natural as possible. For example ground flax seed is great, but, it must be freshly ground and uncooked. Once you heat flaxseed, the oil changes and becomes a bad fat. So putting it in bread and then baking it will not have the benefits of sprinkling it on your cereal, or having it in a smoothy. I always think of it as natural food = healthy food.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT----SO EAT HEALTHY FOOD!
