Our lifestyle and eating habits create either harmony or disharmony within our hormonal system, and therefore, our state of mind.  There is a food-mood connection.  What we eat, what vitamins, and nutritional value our food contains determines our mood, energy, clarity of thinking and emotional stability.  Which then affects our ability to sleep, which will affect our appetite tomorrow.  It will affect our ability to fight off a cold virus, or flu, our motivation, energy levels, decision making ability and mood in general.  Yes our lifestyle and eating habits will determine our ability to heal and grow.  It will affect the tone and glow of our skin, the sturdiness of our nails and the sheen of our hair.  It will in essence effect the person you become.

Think about the person you want to be.  Is that person sick all the time, in pain, or grumpy?  Or would you prefer to be an energetic, happy person with healthy hair and skin and vibrant eyes and a bright smile?  The choice is yours, you are in the driver's seat!

Far too often I see people let their emotions manipulate their diet.  When they are stressed or depressed, what do they do?  Comfort themselves with food.  We find that wonderful sensations take place when we eat sugar.  Endorphins come gushing through our system.  We instantly feel better.  So why stop at one cookie when the whole box is there promising more fun.  The problem is the hormonal symphony that takes place in the brain is a downward spiral.  The elevated insulin levels will promote increased production of prostaglandins which in turn generates more depression.  This of course will create more sugar/carbohydrate cravings.  And the cycle continues.

In order to create better health and emotional stability supply your body with the vitamins and nutrients it needs on a regular basis.  Supplement your diet with fish or algae oil supplements, eat good quality protein and get the extra nutritional support from a vitamin K enriched green drink preferably one with berries as well.

It is recommended to have protein at all three meals and one of you two snacks each and every day.  Meals and snacks should be eaten five times daily to avoid the peaks and valley of moods .  Avoid skipping meals or snacks as much as possible.

Always us food as your first line of defence.  Then add vitamin supplements when the healthful food is not enough to provide your nutritional requirements.
